Blackjack
advanced strategy - counting cards
Counting
cards
in
blackjack
is
not
possible
while
playing
online,
because
each
new
deal
is
from
a
full
shuffled
deck.
Nevertheless,
here
is
how
it
is
done...
Each
card
is
assigned
a
tag
as
follows:
-
high
cards
(Ace,
picture
cards,
10's)
are
assigned
a
tag
of
-1;
-
medium
cards
(7,
8,
9)
are
assigned
a
tag
of
0;
-
low
cards
(2,
3,
4,
5,
6)
are
assigned
a
tag
of
+1
As
cards
are
dealt,
you
add
their
tags,
so
at
any
given
point
in
the
game,
you
will
have
a
running
count,
positive
of
negative,
for
the
deck/shoe
being
dealt.
If
your
count
is
positive,
this
means
that
more
low
cards
have
already
been
dealt
than
high
cards,
and
this
in
turn
means
that
the
cards
remaining
in
the
pack
are
high
card
rich.
When
a
deck
is
high
card
rich,
the
odds
of
winning
swing
in
the
player's
favor.
There
are
a
number
of
reasons
for
this,
including:
-
the
chances
of
blackjacks
being
dealt
increases,
and
with
a
3
to
2
player
payoff,
this
is
more
beneficial
to
the
player
than
the
house;
-
the
dealer
must
hit
on
stiff
hands
(12
to
16)
and
this
will
often
lead
to
a
bust
when
the
pack
is
high
card
rich.
The
player
does
not
have
to
hit
on
stiff
hands.
-
high
card
rich
decks
also
increase
the
likelihood
of
success
for
double
down
and
split
plays.
So,
when
the
count
is
positive
well
into
the
deal,
then
the
player
has
the
edge,
and
at
this
point
in
the
game,
a
prudent
player
will
up
the
ante
to
take
advantage
of
this
edge.
